Ok, I'm still alive

I have been back and forth from Minneapolis a million times in the last few weeks. Amidst the craziness, I did have a few shows and get a lot of sewing done. Maybe, I shall show you a few pics to prove I'm not just lazy....

Valley City Snowball Festival = AWESOME! Seriously, amazing time.

Better shot of the table display. Bad photography brought to you by me :)

And to prove I've been sewing please say hi to Lucy... she quality controls everything before it goes out the door.

Ok, Last sale is coming up Monday the 13th at Dunn Bros Coffee on 45th St in Fargo. It's 6-8:30. Please be there! and get your Christmas Shopping done :)

Thanksgiving!

Wow, insane week home in Minneapolis. There was snow, family, shopping, food and friends. Works ok for me. So the Etsy shop is so near completion that I could just scream. It will be launched by December 5th so that you can get all your Christmas shopping in - I promise!

OooOO so super amazing, awesome, killer thing happened on Black Friday. I was able to finally get a smart phone (which will keep me super organized, make me lots of lists and accept credit cards on the spot for all my sales) oh and the phone... it was free. Thank you Best Buy!

Alright, I have a never ending to-do list. Keep in mind if you have something you really want made for Christmas let me know. I still have room for plenty of original orders! (remember they are no extra cost... just cost of materials plus minimal labor)

Yay!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Seriously best night ever.

Dunn Bros One-Stop-Shop night on 45th street was a huge success! After 3 weeks of checking out of the world and never blogging I can honestly say that the night was amazing.

Thank you for coming out, thank you for buying things and thank you for complementing my creations. I feel amazingly blessed!

I will have an etsy store coming in the next 2 weeks. So please check back! If you saw something you like or have an idea of something you want made please please please don't be afraid to contact me. mae.sewing@gmail.com I ship anything for free... well unless you order bricks, then we will have to talk :)

Maybe I'll see you at Grace Lutheran on Thursday from 5-8 or maybe even in Valley City on Saturday from 9-4. Who knows?!?!?

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Have you ever just wanted to log onto Priceline.com, buy a ticket somewhere and just GO!? It feels like every single weekend this fall, I have had this crazy urge to charge $700, spend one night in a town I've never been to, and enjoy the adventure along with it.

But, I don't have $700. I don't have the ability to leave my job whenever I want. and... I don't think I have the nerve to do that.

I find that sewing allows me a lot of time to dream and talk with God. The steam of the iron provides me a great backing track for stupid, silly songs. The slicing of my rotary cutter through layers of fabric allows me to vent my frustration about where life is right now. The *click *whir *click of my sewing machine gives me a chance to cry and really submit my future to the ONE who knows it already. I love sewing. I love knowing I'm creating something. But there are days I wonder if God gave me this passion to work on me.

I often imagine myself as a new piece of fabric from the store. I'm pretty, fun colored and invoke some kind of inspiration for the purchaser... but that's just the beginning. I need to be washed, dried, ironed, and then who knows if I'll be made into anything right away.

Right now, I feel like I'm in that stage. I've been purchased, washed, dried, and ironed, but now I'm just sitting on a shelf while my creator thinks of something beautiful to do with me. Do I fear that I will become that piece of fabric that somehow gets forgotten? Sometimes... but then I remember that my God does not forget.

So, while I sew, I learn that I am just waiting... waiting for God to make me into something that He knows is going to be beautiful and purposeful. Until then, I will just continue my silly songs, and honest conversations with God, knowing He has a plan. and maybe, just maybe, He'll make me more spontaneous so I can leave on a jet plane whenever I want.

Off to the Minneapolis for the weekend. Then... the sweatshop of doom begins in countdown for October 11th!

God will make a Way

This is my new slogan. No matter how frustrated I get, lost I feel, or completely worthless I convince myself I am, HE WILL MAKE A WAY.

How do I know this, well I've just added a few more "craft shows" to my schedule, have started taking orders for things, and am finding more joy in sewing than I really anticipated.

OOOO plus I just made a new thing ( I think I really like the word "thing" - note to self: Purchase thesaurus)! Thanks to Anna Graham of NoodleHead for such an amazing pattern and easy design. I am in love.

I'm hoping to have a few of these ready for October 11th at Dunn Bros on 45th! Love to see you there!

My name is Laura... and I am a fabric addict.

I will admit nothing if asked, but I may have a small fabric addiction. This morning, in preparation for the 3 craft sales coming up, I purchased 6 yards of fabric to make a million of these little bags.

What do you think? Do you need one for your very own?!?!

E-mail me at mae.sewing@gmail.com and I'll make you one!
